‘Underworld’ Franchise Will Involve Both Theo James and Kate Beckinsale Plus A TV Series
Last month, reports of Theo James taking over the ‘Underworld’ franchise and a new movie slated to come out involving his arc as vampire David inundated the web. This resulted in a lot of speculation regarding the future of the franchise and whether Kate Beckinsale’s character Selene would make an appearance or just simply be done with the series altogether.
‘Underworld’ Director Len Wiseman, who is also Kate Beckinsale’s husband, spoke out during NYCC in an interview and revealed that there are actually two movies and a TV series that are being developed at this time.
“There are a few things being developed right now. There are some characters that we really like, that’s kind of like a spin-off, like we did with Underworld 3: The Rise of The Lycans. And then another film is being developed and is in the works with Kate possibly as well, and then there’s a television series as well. It’s expanding that universe in many ways.”
It is unclear which of these we will get to see first or which actually involved Theo James, although from the statement above we tend to assume that the spinoff is where we will find Theo. Len Wiseman had this to say about the timeline:
“I don’t know, you tell me. They’re all in development, and there are a lot of releases out there that aren’t actually true, but it’s too long to actually wrap all of that up.”
Well this certainly is good news for both Theo and ‘Underworld’ fans. It seems like we’ll be able to have our cake, and eat it too! Chime in below in the comments and tell us how you feel about this new reveal.
