Insurgent VR Experience First Look and More Info
As reported last week, Lionsgate and Samsung have partnered up to create a virtual reality experience in which the fans can be immersed in the world of “Insurgent” with the use of a Samsung Gear VR headset.
Yesterday, Mashable published a story in which we are given a glimpse into what this experience will look like, along with a bit more info on what it entails.
The four-minute “Insurgent – Shatter Reality” VR experience for Samsung Gear VR has three unique environments, including two interactive “fear” simulations — one from atop a skyscraper, another facing an oncoming train — that were shot in stereo 4K and rendered in a 3D graphics engine. So, maybe not for the faint of heart.
Insurgent stars Kate Winslet, Miles Teller and Mekhi Phifer are a part of the experience, which was rendered into a 3D/360-degree MP4 video for Samsung’s Milk VR platform and is powered by the Galaxy Note 4. The film’s VFX team created 3D models, texture files and 3D scans of sets and actors for use throughout the experience.
Below you will find images taken right out of the “Insurgent – Shatter Reality” experience, along with a brief gif of the 3D title card:
The “Insurgent – Shatter Reality” will be on tour and available to you on any of the dates in the below image. Additionally, you will be able to try it out at any of the 100 nationwide participating Best Buy locations listed HERE from March 6 to March 8.
